Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old moneylender, holds everything that embodies the joys and spirit of Christmas in contempt, keeping to himself and being nasty to people. Scrooge’s buisness partner Jacob Marley has died and Scrooge is paying a man for his coffin. He pays him a very small amount and leaves. He walks throughout Victorian England, and as he passes people by everyone becomes quiet and frightend. He walks into his place of buisness and slams the door shut.

Seven Christmas Eve’s later, he is still as bitter as he was before. He has an employee named Cratchit who is very poor and can barley afford food for his family. Scrooges nephew walks into the shop and asks to join him for dinner at his house, scrooge gives him an unfriendly christmas hum-bug and tells him to leave. Closing time comes and Cratchit leaves. Scrooge closes up shop and goes home.

That night, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who is now forced to spend his afterlife carrying heavy chains forged from his own greedy ways. Scrooge looks out the window and sees many more ghosts suffering the same fate. Marley warns Scrooge that he will suffer an even worse fate if he doesn’t repent, and foretells that he will be haunted by three spirits that will help guide him.

The first spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Past, a small ghost made of fire, shows Scrooge visions of his own past that take place on or around the Christmas season, reminding him of how he ended up the greedy man he is now. He had spent much of his childhood neglected by his father over the holidays at boarding school until he was finally brought home by his loving sister Fan, who died prematurely after giving birth to his nephew Fred. Scrooge later began a successful career in business and moneylending and became engaged to a woman named Belle, though she later called off the engagement when he began to grow obsessed with accumulating his own wealth. Unable to bear having to witness these events again, Scrooge extinguishes the spirit. (The spirit sends scrooge soaring over london and he crashes through his ceiling into his bed)

Scrooge walks into a room, and finds it is covered in christmas decorations. The ghost of christmas present is in there waiting for him.

The Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge the happiness of his fellow men on Christmas day. Among them are his nephew Fred, who playfully makes jokes with his family at Scrooge’s expense, and Bob Cratchit and his family, who are just barely able to make do with what little pay Scrooge gives Cratchit. The Cratchits also tend to a sickly young son, Tiny Tim, whose commitment to the spirit of Christmas touches Scrooge, who is dismayed to learn from the spirit that he may not have much longer to live. Before the spirit vanishes, it warns Scrooge about the evils of Ignorance and Want, showing them as terrifying, uncivilized children doomed to grow into savage, despicable individuals. The ghost then withers away into dust.

The third and final spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, shows Scrooge the final consequences of his greed. Tiny Tim has died, leaving the Cratchits to mourn him on Christmas. Scrooge has also died, though there is more comfort than grief in the wake of his funeral. In addition, Fred finds benefit from inheriting his wealth, and Scrooge is even robbed by his former maid. Unwilling to let this grim future come to pass, Scrooge begs to be given a second chance as the spirit forces him into his deep and empty grave leading all the way to Hell.

Scrooge awakens to find himself in his bed on Christmas morning, the three spirits having guided him over the course of one night, and immediately sets out to atone for his sins, making donations to the poor, attending Fred’s dinner party, and giving Cratchit a raise to care for his family, allowing Tiny Tim to live. Scrooge spends the remainder of his life a new man embodying the spirit of Christmas itself.

A fairy tale set in Jazz Age-era New Orleans and centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) and her fateful kiss with a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again.

Here, Disney reunites Aladdin creators Ron Clements and John Musker, rekindles their love for hand drawn animation, endures a storm of controversy regarding the initial name given to their first African-American princess (“Maddy” which was changed to “Tiana”), then adjusts their title a bit as to not insult the French (original title: The Frog Princess). Pixar is never this controversial.

I managed to see this in London, England at the Barbican London Children’s Film festival closing gala premiere. First off, make sure you see this film, and see it in Digital like I did. I enjoyed “up” from Pixar and that was one of the films of this year, but this is a lot better.

At first you might think this is all racist make up film since Disney never had a Afro Caribbean type princess, Esmeralda in “Hunchback of Notre Dame” was, even if she was voiced by Demi Moore.. Am I wrong here? But forget that P.C rubbish and enjoy a superb animated film, a superb film for a long while. This is the only film I am going to see twice. I was with an audience full of children / families, they paid full attention.

Best film this year and next, I really hope this makes a load of money and wins best Oscar for animation, too bad it can’t be for film, silly really.

Besides retitling the picture to avoid the implication that the first Afro-American Disney princess was somehow ugly or animal, the lead character’s name changed from Maddy to Tiana since,”Maddy” sounded too much like “Mammy.” A subplot about her working as a maid was also dropped to avoid negative stereotypes.

# Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Tyra Banks were all considered for the lead role. Keyes and Banks personally lobbied the studio for the part.

# The Princess and the Frog is the first Disney movie to feature a black princess.

# This is the first 2-D animated Disney film for composer Randy Newman, who previously scored the Disney/Pixar films Toy Story (1995), A Bug’s Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters, Inc. (2001), and Cars (2006). Alan Menken and his new lyricist Glenn Slater were originally going to do the music for the film, but John Lasseter didn’t want the public to feel that Disney was becoming repetitive, because Menken had been scoring another fairy tale film, Enchanted (2007).

# Tiana is left-handed for a reason: Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana, asked for it because she is a left-handed. Mark Henn, supervising animator of the princess accepted.

# Prince Naveen is from a fictional country in the Mediterranean named Maldonia. The kingdom’s name is a mix between Malta and Macedonia.

# The alligator character in the film is named Louis in honor of jazz great Louis Armstrong.

# In February 2007, it was reported that ‘Jennifer Hudson’ and Anika Noni Rose were top contenders for the voice of the princess, and that Alicia Keys directly contacted Disney’s studio chief Dick Cook, telling him that she wanted the role very much.

# During the Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholder meeting in March 2007, Randy Newman performed a new song written for the movie. He was accompanied by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

# Musical alligators, like Louis the Jazz trumpeter, had been a part of a previous Disney animated classic, The Rescuers (1977), in which Madame Medusa’s two pet reptiles, Brutus and Nero, play a tune on an organ in order to blast the two mouse heroes from their hiding place.

In the final confrontation between Setsuna and Ribbons, the 00 Raiser is heavily damaged by Ribbons and the other Innovators; however, assistance from the other Meisters even the odds. In the ensuing chaos, Allehujah and Hallelujah work together to defeat Hilling Care, while Lockon narrowly manages to kill Revive Revival. Eventually, Ribbons and Setsuna damage each other to the point where neither one can continue fighting. However, Ribbons manages to steal one of the 00’s GN Drives, which was 0 Gundam’s, and places it in the abandoned 0 Gundam. Setsuna, in turn, takes the remaining GN Drive and installs it back into the Exia. After another difficult duel, Ribbons and Setsuna run through each other with their swords but Setsuna emerges the victor. In the epilogue, the Federation undergoes reforms as its new president disbands A-Laws and pushes for better global peace; Saji and Louise rekindle their relationship; Allelujah and Marie have left Celestial Being to search for the meaning of their existence; Andrei Smirnov stays in the military to preserve peace like his father and mother; Patrick Colasour and Brigidier-General Kati Mannequin marry; Klaus and Shirin work as politicians in the Federation Assembly; Marina returns with the children to lead a rebuilt Azadistan; Graham Aker is seen visiting Billy Katagiri in his office; Lockon and Setsuna leave with Celestial Being (who are still considered dangerous due to their refusal to disband) to space and Tieria disappears into Veda to watch over the world.

The manga is still running in Japan, and 22 volumes have been released so far. The anime, on the other hand, is finished, and consists of 51 episodes and a full-length movie sequel. Both incarnations (the manga and the anime) have seen massive popularity in both Japan and North America; in September 2005, the anime was voted #1 most popular anime of all time in Japan in a TV Asahi web poll. It was put down for #1 again for 2006 in a recent poll. In 2005, Anime Insider named it “Series of The Year.

The franchise has seen high popularity in both Japan and North America. As of March 2008, the Fullmetal Alchemist manga has sold over 30 million volumes in Japan. The English release of the manga’s first volume was the top-selling graphic novel during the year 2005. The series’ animated adaptation won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 2003. In two TV Asahi web polls, the anime was voted #1 most popular anime of all time in Japan. It was nominated in six of the eight categories for which it was eligible at the American Anime Awards in February 2007, winning awards in five of them.

A new series was released on the 5 th of April 2009 titled Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, it follows the Manga much more than it’s predecessor.

The filler episodes end here, and the story is continued in Naruto: Shippuden.
